Since losing my younger brother to suicide in September of 2004, I have been creating a body of work titled, Portraits of Grief. Believing that grief encompasses an infinite array of emotions, I have chosen to include images that range from softly peaceful, to weathered and pained. Combining my education in Psychology with a love for the visual arts, I have captured moments of powerful emotion through color and brush stroke in a style that some have described as ‘contemporary realism.’

Bio:
Rebecca Lyn Cooper was born in August of 1978 in San Francisco, California. She was the first of six children. Rebecca’s interested in art appeared early in life, when as a child she began writing and illustrating stories. Throughout Junior High and High School, Rebecca attended art classes. Although young, Rebecca was also able to participate with an independent group of artists that met twice a week.
